Why we should give less f*cks about strategies + tools

Remember when we were in lower school reading class and the teacher would always talk to us about "reading skills" and "reading tools"?

In 2023, what is the difference between SKILLS and tools/strategies in today's information-saturated world, anyway?

With everyone having a toolkit, framework, and strategy, it seems like all these words kind of mean the same thing, right?

When I think back on the early days of building our proven small business visibility program, the PR Starter Pack, I was focused on giving our founders the tools, perspectives, frameworks, and path to knowing exactly how to amplify their voice without ads or agencies.

But as our community grew from 10 to 100, to 1000, to 5000+ in our Facebook group, I realized something.

We aren't just here to get another set of "tools" or pay for a "framework" or even the next best strategy.

Tools and strategies come and go, and can be bought/copied/given/transferred.

But not skills.

Skills have to be built through test and practice, with the support of community, the bravery of your own self-actualization and forged through the richness of your own experiences.

As small businesses, we are in a community to support one another in the lifelong building of skills so that we can have beautiful mastery in our domain.

Skills allow us to rise above the constant "looking around everywhere for the answer", to an inner knowing because we've built a repository of deep knowledge that allows us to take informed actions so we can grow.

Skills are irreplaceable, priceless assets that NO one can take away or steal from us--regardless of the market conditions, or how many or little resources you might have.

Skills are what elevates our ability to create value and achieve our goals.

That's why our PR community is so enriched by everyone's diverse experiences.

Because together, we share the goal of acquiring skills that are more valuable than anything that can be copied, sold, or transferred.

As the Year of the Rabbit reminds us to work smarter, not harder, ask yourself:

Is this something that will allow me to acquire a skill that'll help me in other areas of my business/life?

That's why I believe our upgraded PR Starter Pack program is so powerful, because it re-wires our ability to think about our way of relating to the world.

It empowers founders to acquire the skill of being relatable to anyone, any issue, any topic, in any quarter or season.

The ability to draw MORE people into your world by knowing how to find relevance in your message is the most priceless thing that helps founders grow their businesses in any climate.

As we reflect on the big year we are about to have, know that you are in a community with other incredible small businesses that are 'small' but OH. SO. MIGHTY.
